Government of Brunei Darussalam scholarship for international students
The Government of Brunei Darussalam Scholarship is provided for foreign students who wish to study for Diploma, Undergraduate, and masters in the top five Brunei higher education institutions. The scholarship is provided by the ministry of Brunei Darussalam. Besides tuition waiver, the scholarship also provides funds for living expenses, food, air tickets, and health insurance. The goal of the program is to enhance students' academic and interpersonal skills. The affiliated universities provide hands-on experience to students to make them able to start their careers with ultimate prestige. There are several universities that are under this scholarship. The institutions are -
Eligibility
- The scholarship is only for foreign students who want to study in Brunei. It means citizens of Brunei cannot apply for this scholarship.
- The scholarship is for applicants from, but not limited to, ASEAN, Commonwealth and OIC member countries.
- Age Limit:
- must be between 18-25 years for Diploma and Undergraduate
- Not more than 35 years for Master's Students
Benefits
- Exemption from all academic and tuition fees.
- Air ticket from and to the recipient's country.
- BND$500 as a monthly personal allowance.
- BND$150 as a monthly meal allowance.
- BND$600 as an annual book allowance.
- Accommodation at the institution's dormitory.
- Other benefits such as health insurance, research allowances. However, the authority recommends the awardees to avail some additional health insurance while travelling from their home countries.
Terms and conditions
- The scholarship can not be granted concurrently with any other scholarship, loan, fellowship, or grant without prior approval from MOFA. If the awardee is found to have any other scholarship besides this scholarship, the authority will immediately revoke the scholarship.
- It is recommended not to bring any family members with the awardee. The authority will not provide any additional funds for any family members.
- The awardee is not allowed to have any paid job as long as he is receiving benefits from this scholarship.
- Students are strictly recommended not to engage in any political activities.
- The awardee must leave the country as soon as he finishes his study.
- Though it is not necessary to contact any professor or supervisor beforehand, having a professor in contact will increase the possibility of getting the scholarship.
- In your motivation letter, try to include the name of one or two professors with whom you want to work during your studies.
- If you have any research experience try to include it in your CV.
- Practice basic interview questions such as why this country, why this university, your goals, your study plans etc before facing the interview.
