What is UP scholarship?


UP scholarship is a need-based scholarship for residents of Uttar Pradesh, India. The scholarship is provided by the state government to financially support students who wish to pursue higher education. The scholarship covers the cost of tuition and other associated expenses such as books and room and board. To be eligible for the UP scholarship, students must meet the following criteria: 


-Be a resident of Uttar Pradesh

-Demonstrate financial need

-Be enrolled in an accredited college or university in Uttar Pradesh

-Maintain good academic standing

Requirements/Eligibility


To be eligible for the UP scholarship, candidates must meet the following requirements: 

-Be a citizen of India 

-Be enrolled in an undergraduate or postgraduate program at a recognized university in India 

-Have a minimum CGPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale or equivalent 

-Demonstrate financial need 

-Be between the ages of 18 and 26 years old as of March 31st of the year of application


In addition to the above requirements, candidates must also submit the following documents: 

-A completed application form 

-A copy of their passport or birth certificate 

-A copy of their university ID card or admission letter 

-Official transcripts from their current and previous academic institutions 

-Two letters of recommendation from professors or employers 

-A personal statement

UP offers a variety of need-based and merit-based scholarships to help make college more affordable. If you're admitted to UP, you'll automatically be considered for merit-based scholarships. To be considered for need-based scholarships, you must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®) by our priority deadline of February 1.

Scholarships are an important part of your financial aid package and can help you pay for college. We encourage all students to explore scholarship opportunities outside of UP, in addition to the scholarships offered through our office.

Document Checklist


Prior to beginning your application for the UP Scholarship, be sure to have the following documents on hand:


-A copy of your high school transcript or GED certificate

-Proof of enrollment or admission to a participating school

-Your most recent Federal Income Tax Return (1040, 1040A, or 1040EZ) or, if you are not required to file taxes, a signed statement certifying this fact

-Your FAFSA Student Aid Report (SAR)

-Your parent(s)' or guardian's most recent Federal Income Tax Return (1040, 1040A, or 1040EZ), if you are a dependent student

-Documentation of any other sources of financial aid you will be receiving

-If you are an active duty member of the military, a copy of your Leave and Earnings Statement (LES)

Tips


The Uttar Pradesh state government offers scholarships for students who want to pursue higher education. The scholarships are available for meritorious students as well as for students belonging to economically weaker sections of society. The amount of scholarship varies from Rs. 12000/- to Rs. 20000/- per annum.


To apply for the scholarship, the student must first log in to the official website of the Uttar Pradesh Scholarship Scheme. After logging in, the student must fill in the application form and submit it along with the required documents.


The documents required are:


1) A recent passport sized photograph

2) A copy of the student's Aadhar Card

3) A copy of the student's marksheet from the previous academic year

4) A copy of the student's bank passbook or cancelled cheque leaf (for direct benefit transfer of scholarship amount)

5) An income certificate issued by a government authority (if applicable)

6) A caste certificate (if applicable)

7) A disability certificate (if applicable)

8) Any other relevant document mentioned in the checklist on the official website.


After submission of the form and documents, the authorities will verify them and if everything is in order
